Overview of your new Demo package

Login to the Site Manager by going to www.halosites.com.   Use your 3 or 4 digit Admin ID number and then your password.  You will need to update the  "Admin Information" page first for the primary and secondary site administrators.  This lets us know who has the proper authorization to edit the site and call us for Support.

Once you see the Site Manager come up, you will notice on the left hand side, the blue tabs going down the left column.  These are the tools you will use to edit your site.  You can start by adding the information needed for the first 2 tools:  "Ministry Info" and "Admin Info".   Displayed to the right of the blue tabs/tools you will notice a list of updates given by our Developer.  These updates let you know of any changes that have been made to the Site Manager or any new tools that have been added and instructions on how to use them.  You will want to check this area often to see what's new!

Begin editing with the first two tools listed in your left column, "Ministry Info" and "Admin Info". This allows us to securely send information and correspond to those that are listed here.  This is for your security as well, so no one else can edit your site and try to steal your login information when they contact us.  If they are not on your list, no information or changes can be made to your site when someone else tries to contact us for support.

The "Design Gallery" Tool.   You can change the look of your web site at any time by choosing a new design.  Try going into the New 4.0 Design Gallery, by clicking on the little guy with his arms outstretched.  This will take you to a new page.  At the top of the page, click on "Header Graphic".  By viewing the yellow folders you will see a variety of new designs for your web site.  By clicking on one of the Design Headers, it will automatically change your site.  You can preview the change by clicking the top tab, "Preview Site". Sometimes, you will need to refresh (F5) your page when updating it.  You can return to your Site Manager by clicking on the link under "Header Graphic".

Using the "Web Editor".  This is where you will edit the content that will go on each page of your web site.  You will see a list of pages already created for your site package.   You can start editing your "Welcome" page by clicking on the "Page Editor" icon, this looks like a piece of paper with a blue heading at the top.  To start editing your content delete the demo text.  You will see a variety of tools at the top of the page that you can work with to edit your site. Take time to see what each one does.   Start by clicking on the white content box and type some text.  Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to keep any changes you have made.  And "Preview" the site to see your editing.

To upload your photos.
At the top of the page editor-there is a tool that looks like a mountain with a pencil coming out of the top of it, called "Insert Image".  By clicking on this tool a new window will come up.  Look for the "browse" field at the bottom.  This will allow you to find the picture on your computer, that you want to upload to your page.   Pictures will need to be in the .jpeg or .jpg format.   Once you have located the .jpg, click upload.  The file name with all its code will be place in the browse field.   When it has finished uploading, you will receive a message that the file has uploaded.  You can click "Insert" or select the graphic from the top left column.  Don't forget to "save" the changes you made.

When uploading pictures to your site remember to resize the pixels first to get them web ready and to save space on your web site. We offer a free image resizer download to help you get started. http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/PIXresizer/pixresizer.html.   All pictures need to be resized to a width of 400 pixels wide (the height will adjust automatically).  It also helps to save your new resized photo with a new file name to be able to tell the difference from the original [ example of original file name - "pastor" and resized picture file name - "pastorR" ].  Don't use any symbols, quotes, periods, spaces or &, * , for file names. We can help you via phone or the online ticket system.  When you purchase one of our site packages, you will receive 30 days of free phone support.  If you need further assistance after that you can use the free online support system ANYTIME!  You can also purchase 1/2 hour blocks of phone support for $20 if you need further phone assistance after those 30 days.
